I love that there are so many different things to do here in Alice Springs and its surrounds. Unique festivals (check out the annual calendar), for one thing, such as fabALICE.

FabALICE describes itself as a family-friendly, multi-day festival that lets Alice Springs sparkle.

It’s a time to celebrate the inclusivity and diversity of the Red Centre. Time to put on your stilettos, wigs, spangles, mascara and glitter or just watch fabulous Drag Queens in their finery. Above all, a time to have fun. Cocktails dahling?

You might expect a sing-a-long to popular films, children’s events, a costume parade, lunch with a fashion show, gender diversity workshops, family night markets with food stalls and entertainment, cabaret, games, comedy and a gala evening under the stars.

Some events will be free and some ticketed. Some are pitched for the family and other events strictly limited to over 18s.

FabALICE is likely to be timed for a long weekend in March after the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Some festival goers may party in Sydney and come on to FabALICE, perhaps by bus, perhaps also to visit Lasseters Casino – watch The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert again and get in the mood.
