Join Pyndan Camel Tracks to ride through the Ilparpa Valley up close to the MacDonnell Ranges, some of the oldest mountains in the world. Meet our gentle and friendly camels. See wildlife and help feed the camels at sunset on our family-run camel farm. Enjoy Nature Tourism in a natural area that leaves minimal impact on the environment. Tour Options

One hour camel rides
Tour times: 12 noon, 2.30pm and sunset.
Sunset ride
vary according to season
5pm: 20 April to 30 September
5.30pm: 1 October to 31 October; 20 March to 19 April
6pm: 1 November to 19 March

The ride starts at Pyndan Camel Tracks yards and goes into White Gums Station. The tracks follows an avenue of Iron Bark and Mulga trees, across a clay pan flat, and climbs a slight incline to get sweeping views across the MacDonnell Ranges through Temple Bar Gap. If you want, Marcus will take your photo from here. Almost every day we see kangaroos and wallabies, many birds including budgies and birds of prey, and often lizards. People always say how relaxing and calm it is out on the ride. Come and join us!


$45 adults / $25 children (14 years and under)

Children 0 to 2 years must ride on an adult's lap. Children 3 years and above are charged child's fare whether they ride on an adult's lap or on their own seat. Tours cater for one to sixteen passengers.

Half Day Morning Rides
If you want to really enjoy camel riding and the sounds of the bush, join our half day ride. So many people comment after the one hour ride, 'Oh, that wasn't long enough!' After a half day ride, people are bubbling with joy and are completely relaxed. Everyone always says, 'Oh that was fabulous. Just the right amount of time.' Half way through the ride, Marcus stops in a sandy river bed for a break, a drink and snack, and a good yarn. Don't rush your holiday! See the real Red Centre.

Half day morning rides leave at 9am and return at 12noon.
$95 per person

20 April to 30 September: minimum 4 persons to depart
Tours cater for four to sixteen passengers.


1 October to 19 April: minimum 2 persons to depart

What to bring

Please wear comfortable clothing that protects you from sunburn, sunscreen, a hat and a water bottle. Filtered water available in the Camel Lounge.

Does your group want a relaxed ride to fit into its busy schedule? Morning rides can be arranged for group bookings. Contact Marcus Williams to arrange one hour rides, longer walks or overnight trips.

School Groups
Morning camel rides can be designed to suit your school's timetable. Longer walks or overnight trips can also be arranged. Pyndan Camel Tracks in association with BushMob Alice Springs has successfully run camel camps for local young people. Highlights for the kids have been:

RIDE AT OWN RISK Please be advised that you will be riding the camels at your own risk. Camels are usually placid animals, but like all animals they can sometimes be unpredictable. While every reasonable precaution will be taken to prevent accident and injury, the operator and owner will not be responsible for any accident or injury, however arising which may happen to any person in charge of, in association with, or in contact with any camels irrespective of the extent of injury, damage or loss sustained. This condition of contract may be pleaded by the operator and owner as a bar to any action claim proceeding for breach of contract, negligence or any other liability sustaining such injury, damage or loss.
